We often think that other people have less problems than we do, or that they deal with them in a better way. Insecurity and a need for contact cause us to pretend to be stronger than we really are. Deep inside, however, we feel alone.
Due to feelings of shame or fear of rejection we do not have the courage to talk about that which bothers us.
Do you wish to get to know yourself better, and would you like to do this together with other people with similar problems? Then group therapy might be just the solution for you.
The advantages of joining a group are:
- Sharing your experiences
Telling others how you feel can be a great relief. Sharing feelings makes them more manageable. And … by listening to others you become more aware of what happens inside yourself. - Recognition and support
You can feel the support of the group when they recognize your problems as the same as their own. This can make you feel less lonely. And… when you realize that your contribution is valuable to others, it will increase your confidence and sense of self esteem. - Learning from others
Others share with you examples of how they deal with problems and how they solve difficult situations. This could give you ideas on how to bring about change in your own life. You could also ask for advice from your fellow group members. - Deepening contacts
During this process a network of close and deep contacts develop. As trust and safety grow in the group, more sensitive subjects are brought forward. This offers a way of getting to know yourself on a deeper level.
A group consists of about eight members and convenes once a week. Because of the intensity of the process we do ask of you to commit to a participation of at least ten times.
Do you think that maybe group therapy could be the solution for you?
